Fall Semester Recap

Image
I love updating our school wins (and some losses) at the end of a semester. We had a lot of great experiences in each of the groups we belong to as part of our school culture. I'll share some highlights in each of the main topics of our education - Knowledge of God, Knowledge of Man, and Knowledge of the Universe. Knowledge of God We have been reading through the book of Acts and following our Morning Time Menu with scripture reading, memorization and catechism. I have felt the calling of the Lord with the word "JOY" to be present in our homeschool this year. When we get in the car and drive to choir every morning I blast the song by For King and Country and feel that it is my "pump up" music for the beginning of the week! I feel like the catechism work that we have done is a "win" because it has prompted theology discussions at various times in our daily life with Christian and Eva Mae. I feel like my losses in this area are due to not being as faithf

2022-2023 School Planning

Planning out an entire year of school is a pretty daunting task, but I love every minute of it! I love reflecting and watching how each year has grown and blossomed in its own way, yet always toward a destination of adulthood for my children. I see my failures as I reflect but also see the beauty of this process of education for my children. I have hopes and dreams for them and pray every day that the ideas cultivated through the living books and experiences will continue to shape their character and being. I pray that they won't forget the tears that I have shed in the many read alouds and times of worship with them, and pray they always remember the laughter and joy that we share within our rich community of friendships! I have a lot to share in this post and look forward to revisiting it again next year as I see what goals we have been able to achieve through consistent practice and work. Something Cindy Rollins said at a Wild + Free conference several years ago was "inspec

2021-2022 Year End Review

This time last year I remember sitting at my computer typing out all my plans for the upcoming school year curriculum. It is such a blessing to sit here at the completion and see all the rich experiences we were able to have throughout the year! This will probably be a long post! I like to be thorough that way I can come back at a later date and see what events I might have forgotten. I will still organize the subjects in the three main topics: The knowledge of God, the knowledge of man, and the knowledge of the universe. If you want to go back to the post last year and see how I organized everything in the planning click here! The Knowledge of God Bible Reading - I feel that this year was not as consistent at following along through an entire book of the Bible. We did have many wonderful lessons in scripture through Sunday worship together, (almost) daily personal devotion time, and scripture memorization. Since I can look back and see that more attention is needed to the consistent
