Mom and kid trip 2021

Image
At the end of each school year I love planning a trip with just me and the kids! I buy them little toy treasures (gift giving love language) and plan some fun adventures while following their suggestions of what to do! I think as they continue to get older this will look differently as they suggest more of what they want and I have to take a backseat to what I want from our adventure! But isn't that the beauty of growing a relationship with your children? Realizing and following their passions is something I'm looking forward to! Past trips have been 2020 to Alabama , 2019 to Cumberland Gap , and 2018 to the Animal Safari and Paris, TN In 2021 we revisited some of the same places we saw in 2018! Here's our itinerary: Day 1 - Eva, Tennessee and Nathan Bedford Forrest State Park Day 2 - Paris Landing State Park, Land Between the Lakes, and Fort Donelson Day 3 - Dunbar Cave State Park and Port Royal State Park The planning of this started when Eva Mae asked to go camping in a

Recap of 2020-2021

How did I get so blessed to have two beautiful children that I get to homeschool? As I reflect on the end of another year I am humbled and in awe of all the amazing things God has provided to our homeschool community and our household! I love reflecting at the end of the year as I begin to plan our next year of studies. If you are curious to see the recaps of previous years, here are some links: 2019-2020 / 2018-2019 / 2017-2018 / 2016-2017   The end of last school year was difficult with the cancellations of so many field trips. As I reflected last summer on what I wanted for my children, I realized that the "pod" type of homeschooling was exactly what we needed and wanted. This past year has been life giving through the many small classes we held in our home and the nature outings that we participated with friends at local parks. There were no Nashville Symphony concerts but there were Composer Parties and recorder/ukulele jam sessions! We didn't have large co-ops

I moved to Tennessee in 1997 but it wasn’t until around 2003 that I began to seek out visits to our state parks. Nick and I bought 50 hikes within 50 miles of Nashville and began documenting our adventures in the book, along with a TN state parks passport we picked up at Tims Ford on our 5 th anniversary! When Christian was born, we became a little more intentional about camping at the state parks! We even found out I was pregnant with Eva Mae the day after we came home from our camping trip at Davy Crockett State Park in 2011! I love getting our passport stamped and writing down our highlights after a visit. I’ve blogged about several that you can click here: 1. Cedars of Lebanon, Cumberland Mountain and Fall CreekFalls 2. Standing Stone, Big South Fork, Pickett and Cumberland Gap 3. Pickwick Landing, Big Hill Pond and Shiloh 4. Johnsonville State Park, Mousetail Landing, and Paris This summer we enjoyed Reelfoot Lake State Park with friends! There is no inn to rent a room a
