New Year's Goals

I have an exciting announcement! I have a special place in my heart for goal setting in the New Year and I'm offering my goal setting bundle for free with the code BREATHE. Over the years I have read many productivity books that have shaped the way I homeschool. Some years seemed too spread thin - thinking about setting a goal brought anxious feelings. I felt more at peace walking day to day in obedience and by the principle of "Do ye the next right thing..." I have grown through each one of those seasons and feel a sense of purpose and enjoyment with the thought of reflecting and goal setting. I hope this resource can be a help to you as you navigate your thoughts, dreams, and goals for the coming year.

In my daily walk through life there have been several books and resources that have stood out to me as very helpful. I will share these with you below and hope you get a chance to check some of them out!

Reading Challenges

This is one of my favorite productivity goals. My two favorite resources for reading challenges are Reshelving Alexandria and the Schole Sisters 5x5 Challenge.

Habit Tracking

James Clear is my favorite motivation for tracking habits. I learned so much from reading Atomic Habits and keeping his Habit Tracking Journal. Sign up for his newsletter here.

Gretchen Rubin is also inspirational and helpful to know how I personally do best with habit tracking. I love her newsletter and encourage everyone to read her book Better Than Before to know what their tendency is in the Four Tendencies. You can take the free quiz here!

Devotionals

Daily Bible reading is the most important habit and goal in my opinion. Some of my favorite devotionals are the Oswald Chambers Morning and Evening devotionals. Henry Blackaby is also a daily devotional I will read in addition to my Bible plan. I went through the Experiencing God class a couple years ago and learned so much about responding to the Holy Spirit in every moment. One of the best uses of technology in my opinion is the Bible App! I use it every day to read through the Bible (I try to get through in a year but it usually is around 2 years.) The devotional plans are also great!

I hope the New Year goal setting guide I created is helpful to you. If this year seems like there is too much to think about, pause and make time for yourself to breathe. Step away from social media, spend more time outdoors, pray and read the Bible every day, and go to bed earlier if you can.

Ring out the old, ring in the new,
    Ring, happy bells, across the snow:
    The year is going, let him go;
Ring out the false, ring in the true.

Ring out false pride in place and blood,
    The civic slander and the spite;
    Ring in the love of truth and right,
Ring in the common love of good.

Ring in the valiant man and free,
   The larger heart, the kindlier hand;
   Ring out the darkenss of the land,
Ring in the Christ that is to be.
